Senior Session Prep Timeline

Session prep one month before your session:

Finalize location and time for your session. I am here to help with these details to ensure the look you want for your photos!

Fill out your Senior Questionnaire that was emailed to you. This helps me plan for your session and address any questions you have or suggest ideas for your session based on your responses.

Begin planning your outfit choices. Your senior session includes up to 4 outfit changes. A good starting place is to think through one casual outfit, one more formal outfit, a sports uniform/ clothing to go with an interest or activity, and a yearbook photo outfit. You may have two casual looks or more than one sport/activity to represent, so use this simply as a starting point.

Book any prep appointments needed: haircut, nails, hair & make-up artist, etc.

Session prep one week before your session:

This is the time to finalize your clothing, hair styles and all accessories. Don’t forget shoes, jewelry and undergarments.

This is also the time to be careful of your sun exposure. Sunburns and tan lines are often very difficult to edit after the session, so be sure to wear lots of sunscreen and limit your time in the sun. If you choose to get a spray tan or use at-home tanning lotions, go lightly and do it early. These products often look best at least a few days after application.

Drink plenty of water and be cautious with your salt intake.

Confirm any appointments you have scheduled.

Session prep one day before your session:

Use lotion - dry skin shows up in camera more than you might think and is difficult to edit out. Lotion arms, hands, legs and even neck and feet!

Apply lots of chapstick to avoid dry, chapped lips. You can even slough off any dry skin by gently running your toothbrush over your lips before applying chapstick.

Be sure all clothes are clean and pressed. Gather all accessories and pack them. A few other items you might want to include: brush or comb, hair gel or hair spray, small pack of tissues, chapstick, lipstick/lip gloss for re-application, face powder especially if it’s going to be hot, a towel if you plan on getting into the water at your session.

Be sure you have any props ready that you want to be photographed with.

Get a good night’s sleep!

Session prep on your photo day:

Give yourself plenty of time to get ready and drive to your location.

Eat a good meal a few hours before your session. You don’t want to be hungry, but you also don’t want to be bloated from a huge meal on the way. Bring a few protein-filled snacks in case you get hungry during our time!

When you arrive, take a deep breath and let’s have some fun!
